DAWSON UPDATE!!! Today, we are down to less than 30 HOPE ladies. All have been moved to 8D. If you wish to visit them, this will be their last week. The 10th floor is being shut down this weekend. They were doing mass cleaning today. All HOPE supplies/equipment have been removed with the exception of 5-6 bookcases which will be removed this weekend depending on manpower and a truck or several trucks to transport all of them. I have permission to move them on Saturday or Sunday. The unit will move them to the lobby. I just need to be able to load and transport them to our storage bldg in Hurst which is on overload, but we can get them in. From what I was told last night and today...all inmates will be gone from the unit this week. The only ones that are being kept are the ones releasing prior to August 16 or on that day. On August 16, the doors to the unit will be officially locked. All religious services...have been cancelled effective immediately. Some of the staff will remain to finish up the transfer of the facility from CCA to TDC. This staff will remain until August 28. It will probably be a "skeleton" crew. We will be hosting a volunteer gathering of Dawson & Dallas County Volunteers, family members of inmates, ex-offenders, interested parties, friends, neighbors.
