DAY 12: HOW DID I LET LIFE MAKE ME LOSE MY MOJO? Its time to go to high school and my dream school, St Mary denied my entry due to excessive days missed and acting out in class. My Mom never explained to them that our family had lost 3 members back to back and I honestly didnt know how to control my emotions. I would some days sit in class and cry, some days I would completely shut down, others I just didnt care really. I was running summer track, which was my relief when I ear hustled (over heard lol) a conversation two men were having about this high school coach and team that was #1 in the state and all the coaches girls went to COLLEGE! I asked him what school and he said John Mc. I told him I needed a school because I was denied (too much honesty) and that I would love to go to college. That man told me I was too slow and my time in the 400 meters needed to drop from 59 (which I ran that day losing) to 56 seconds. He said John Mc had horses and I was a pony! Wth, he had no idea I ran much faster times (the year before but no one cares about your past but you.... Hummmmmm) I had lost my motivation for life and track after my 3rd brother passed so I wasnt giving my all anymore. I asked him to please come to another track meet and watch me run (lesson.... Always give your all. You never know whos watching) He said he would visit the last meet of the season in 2 months. I wanted to run for a team that was the best so my motivation went into overdrive. I went home and begged my Mom to buy me a video (from Pic n Save) with Legendary Football Great Walter Peyton. Walter Peyton was working out on the video and he would sprint up hills, pull sleds, race cars, he was incredible. So.... Here I go! Standing in the grass area in the middle of our neighborhood racing cars, pulling sleds, lunging, squating, and push ups! The whole neighborhood (some of you on here Im sure remember) would stand outside and watch. Some teased me. Some would cheer. I was just trying to get to John Mc. I had gotten so strong that I would put my neighbor (twin) in a tire and pull her. Then it was time! It was the final track meet of the year. I was constantly getting faster all season so I was excited to see those 2 men again. I spotted them and they remembered me. He asked if I was ready to run. I told him I was strong like Walter Peyton. I was ready but shaking on the inside! I remember my brother / my angel being strong and fast! I looked up to the sky and asked God if it was ok to give me his speed. It was time to run the 400 meters! I felt like this was my time to turn my life around and I had to give it my all! On your mark, set, GO! BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH! My life, my story, my journey!
