DAY 16 PALM SPRINGS SUB 5- WEEKLY RAP UP FROM LAST WEEK- DID 17 work outs, 12 cardio for 100 miles, for 15 hours, 3 strength work outs for 3 hours, 2 stretching for 2 hours. Need to focus on bed time this week by 9pm and up by 4am. Going to add running and swimming before I go to work at 7am. Plan to get 5 swim workouts. I will run warm up 3 miles to pool at 5am, swim 30 minutes at 5:30am, and run home all out sprint 3 miles after swim. add this 4 days each week and then have one open water on the weekend. 5 swims. This is one major item needed. I learned to breathe and stride better when running thanks to Jerrys coaching and also plan to work out with him at least once and as much as two or three times each week. This is huge. We will add some hill work every wed that will be a great workout for a bike run brick at signal hill. Each week I learn more and more about the extreme effort and work that is required to realize my goals. When I run 13 miles under 7:30 pace and get clear I need to do that for 26 miles in the ironman I get clear on how much work is required. I am not afraid of the work in fact it is quite the opposite and I am more afraid of not doing the work. I am prepared to make the sacrifices and as I understand more clearly what it will take the dream becomes more real. As I improve each week I gain confidence. I am very intent on qualifying for Boston and Kona and winning some races. I will accomplish this goal or die in the process of trying. A friend asked me today why I am doing this training and is there some financial reward at the end of the tunnel and I did not have have the best answer. I only know I am not hear to make money and so it is not about the money. My purpose in life has nothing to do with money and I dont even think about that. I thought about it and the answer is I love it! I like training and being fit. I want to make a difference in the world and this is a place I feel I can have a positive impact. This is my passion! Anyways this is such a cool and fun process. It is not about actually competing in Boston or Kona. it is this process of getting there. Every week and every little race and every little challenge. Every mile and every breathe I take. I love the Crossfit, Yoga, and Endurance and working to become as fit as I can possibly be! My basic and weekly work out strategy is I will work out every day. I dont have days off and I dont want them. I want to work out every day. I dont have rest days. I will listen to my body and take a rest day when needed however my plan is two easier days each week and 5 challenging intense give it all I have days. Monday and Friday are my lighter less challenging geared toward recovery days. I like these days because I work hard on Sat and Sun are my biggest efforts and usually a race. So Friday will allow me to be better prepared by taking it easier. Then Monday is after the big weekend and busy at the office so I have some time to recover. I can then hit it hard on Tue, Wed, Thur. So 3 days hard, 1 day light, 2 days harder, 1 day light. It also gives me two days a week that are less intense for personal errands. Balancing my full time business responsibilities and leading my team at the office from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm each day and balancing with training 20 to 25 hours a week as well as social life and personal time is a challenge and I am enjoying it. I will work as hard as I can and stay focussed the rest of this year and all of next. Basically the next 13 months and see where it leads to. My main objective is that I have given it all I can and I have no regrets! Today I did an easy 5 mile beach run and rescued a Pelican:-) tomorrow I will run 6 miles and swim 30 minutes at 5am and hot yoga at noon, and crossift at 5:30pm. I love life and look forward to each day!
