DAY 2 (4-22): How might sin in our lives make us feel like a leper? Read Matthew 8:1-4 in the picture below: In this passage, Jesus encountered a man who had leprosy. In Bible times, the term leprosy was used for a variety of skin disorders from psoriasis to true leprosy, which today is more commonly called Hansens disease. Slow-growin bacteria that damage the nerves cause this form of leprosy It leaves people with the inability to sense pain. This loss of feeling can allow people to harm themselves without realizing it. And yes, leprosy is contagious; but only if you come into close and repeated contact with moisture from the infected persons nose and mouth. Because of its contagious nature, people with leprosy were banished from their homes and cast beyond the protection of the city walls. Lepers lived isolated lives; they had to shout unclean anytime someone healthy came near. And lepers certainly were not allowed to approach anyone - especially not rabbis. Yet that is exactly what this leper did. He pushed his way through the crowd and, kneeling before Jesus, made the boldest request a man in his situation could make. Lord, if you are willing, You can make me clean. This sight must have stopped the crowd of people dead in their tracks. Surely panicked shrieks and the noise of shuffling feet took over as the surrounding people scrambled to get a way from this man with the horrific disease. The man may have wondered if Jesus was one of those running away. Yet there Jesus stood. With an outstretched hand, this Rabbi did the unthinkable. He touche the untouchable, And He said, I am willing, Be made clean. BE SURE AND ANSWER THE QUESTION ABOVE......
