DAY 20 – Yoga squat For me this was a long and stressful week and usually after such crazy and busy days I need to get back to my center and recharge. The pose I am offering you today is exremely good for that. Step 1: Find you calm spot and stay standing with your feet wider than hip distance and with your feet turned outwards slightly (knees and feet facing in the same direction). Step 2: Lift your arms up while inhaling and reach up, on the exhale bring your palms to your chestbone and place them together. (This is called the prayer position.) Step 3: Start to bend your knees and go into a squat very slowly and gently while you keep your spine as straight as you can. (If you need more balance, your may bring your hands forward or to the ground to help you. Issue with the knees: come only until you feel ok and no pain. If you feel that this does not feel good for you at all, skip it rather than causing any pain or injury.) Step 4: For some of us the heels will stay off the ground, for some of us it is comfortable to balance on the full sole. Stay with whatever you have today and dont feel any pressure or competition here. My calves and Achilles tendons are tight, so currently I am not able to keep my heels on the ground. But the pose still feels great. Step 5: Your knees are opening to the sides. Place your elbows to the inner side of your knees. Your hands can stay on the ground or in prayer position.
