DAY 23 – Gate Continuing the opening of the sides of the body, our pose for today is called Gate. If your knees are sensitive, you may need a pillow or a blanket. Step 1: Kneel on the carpet or on the floor, check if your knees are ok. If you need, you may put a blanket or a pillow under your left knee while extending the right leg to the side. The heel of the right foot should be in line with the left knee. Try to put your full right sole on the ground, toes pointing outwards. Step 2: Press your right toes and the top of the left foot down, that is how you engage all the muscles in both legs. Your hips are looking forward and are above the line of the bent knee. Step 3: Place your right hand on your right thigh or slide it gently towards your shin (never putting pressure on the knee), and extend the left arm towards the sky and reach up with palm turned inwards. Step 4: You may stop here if you already feel the stretch on the left side, or you may go ahead and bend to the right while looking into your left palm.
