DAY 28: DEFENCE BALLISTICS EXPERT THOMAS WOLLIE WOLMARANS TAKES THE STAND Defence ballistics expert Thomas Wollie Wolmarans was the third witness to be called to the stand on day 28 of the Oscar Pistorius Trial. Wolmarans listed his experience and training in great detail, mentioning that he has conducted over 10 000 forensic investigations and testified in more than 5000 cases in South Africa, Nambia, Lesotho and Botswana. Wolmarans was asked by the defence team to conduct ballistics tests and first examined the crime scene on 17 February 2013. He conducted analyses on the toilet door as well as other exhibits including clothes, bullets and the gun. Wolmarans also retrieved a fragment – a piece of the core of a bullet - and a piece of tile from the toilet bowl at the crime scene. Court has adjourned for lunch.
