DAY 326 - IF YOU ARE IN CHRIST, YOU ARE ONE WITH HIM --------------------------------------------------------------- You might have noticed that when you read certain parts of the book of Psalms, it sometimes happen that you are not sure whether the write was referring to David, Jesus or both. Sometimes you lose sight of David completely and you are quite certain that he is not in the picture. At other times the words are equally suitable for either David or the LORD Jesus. I think this fact gives us some important teaching. It looks as if the Holy Spirit intended, even in those ancient times, to let God’s people know that there is a mysterious union between Christ and his people - so that all things which may be said concerning the LORD Jesus may also be said concerning those who are in him. They are so completely one, so intimately united by vital, eternal union, that it would be impossible to always keep the sayings concerning them apart/separate. It is like two separate rivers running parallel to each other, and when they finally meet/join- you cannot tell which river it is, when they are joined into one. Christ and his Church are united in one mighty stream, such that what is said of one, may in some sense be also said about the other. This is a very precious thought for believers. If you be in Christ, you are one with him, and as a result, much of what is said about him may also be said about you.
