DAY 55 Saturday August 2, 2014 Meditate on the Word: Read Luke 18. Pray the Blessing: Luke 18:7-8 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth? James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. Ask for the Nations: Pray for the more than 28 million unreached Sunni Islamic Uzbek people. About 21 million of them live in their homeland, present-day Uzbekistan. There are also large Uzbek communities in Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, as well as small communities in many other nations, including the United States. Traditionally, most Uzbeks were semi-nomadic shepherds; however, today, most of those living in Central Asia either farm or live and work in larger towns and cities. Most Uzbeks who have access to the Gospel live in the cities. It is likely that the majority of the rural villages have had no Gospel witness. Today, Islamic fundamentalists living in the former Soviet regions have begun calling for the strict application of Islamic law, as is practiced in Afghanistan. Now is the time to preach the Gospel to the Uzbeks of this region. There is an unprecedented opportunity to reach their communities with the message of the Cross. However, much intercession is needed to prevent this door from closing. Additional laborers and Christian resources are also needed. The Uzbeks are the largest people group in Central Asia and are the most resistant to the Gospel. Who will tell them about Gods love? Pray for God to thrust out more than enough laborers with the gospel. Declare your faith: I ask for strength to endure today, Father. I take hold of You, by faith, and determine to persevere. I will imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. (Genesis 32:26; Ephesians 6:13; Hebrews 6:12; Romans 5:4) Pray on foot: Visit a track field where runners compete; pray as you walk or jog around the track, asking God to teach you to persevere. Pray for the perseverance of believers suffering under trials of all sorts, that they may experience God’s abundant grace as well. Pray for missionaries to other lands to have a fresh energy as they run the race.
