DAY 7-A HERO OR VILLAIN BOTH SIDES OF JOHN MICHUKI MANGU CLUB. Started in 1925,by Irish catholic missionaries Mangu High School was mostly catering students of catholic backgrounds as those of protestant denomination could go to alliance high school.In January 1950,John Njoroge Michuki joined the school.He was driven by Italian priest Fr Richetti.Among his school mates included Emilio Mwai Kibaki from Nyeri, Asanasio Mudeyi son of Rev Jeremiah Awori,John Njenga from lioki Kiambu ,Raphael ndingi from Mwala,George Kamau muhoho from gatitu gatundu,Wilfred Karuga Koinange from Kiambu,Joseph Barage wanjui from Gatundu and Hillary Ngweno from riftvalley.All mentioned later in life ascended to different proffessions.Mwai kibaki became the president of Kenya.Asanasio mudeyi later changed his name to Moody Awori and served as Mwai kibaki vice president.John Njenga went to seminary and ordained as a catholic priest and ascended church leadership to be archbishop.Now Emeritus catholic archbishop of Mombasa.He influenced moody awori to change to catrholicism.Raphael ndingi later become primate of catholic church in Kenya and Kenyans used to call him Ndingi mwana a ‘nzeki.George Kamau Muhoho also became a catholic priest.The son of chief muhoho wa gatheca was the first African apostolic nuncio.Vatican authority had awarded him the title Monsignor.Later he applied for Laicenzation and was granted.He joined politics and served as a minister before joining civil service as managing director of Kenya airport authority.Wilfred Karuga koinange later became a doctor and permanent secretary finance.Joseph Barage is one of leading industrialists in Kenya and he is chancellor University of Nairobi.Hillary Ngweno later founded a weekly review newspaper and once served as chief editor daily nations.Michuki was to serve as a captain in the school.The school classified him in his leaving certificate as industrious, energetic and a little too hard on fellow students. Traits he utilized until death.Surprisingly others in the school have funny descriptions traits they exhibit. STORY CONTINUES TOMORROW.
