DAY 7 of 40 DAYS IN THE WORD “RUMINATION” In last Sunday - TopicsExpress

DAY 7 of 40 DAYS IN THE WORD “RUMINATION” In last Sunday night’s service we developed a discussion of “FIVE ESSENTIALS FOR LIFE”. The topic wound up being very personal, significant, and interesting and we only covered two of the “ESSENTIALS.”. So, this is a plug for our 6:00pm Sunday Night service along with a special invitation to attend. We’ll talk about these “FIVE ESSENTIALS” more this coming Sunday. In our most recent discussion however, the word meditation came up. Years ago it seemed when you heard someone meditating on the Lord or scripture, they were thought to have dropped off the deep end somewhere. I’ve not only become fond of meditating on the Lord and His Word, but believe it is very valuable and adds substance to our spiritual growth. As we continue with our 7th DAY IN THE WORD, read three verses speaking about meditation. After reading them, meditate or think about what they are saying and how they would benefit your life if you practiced them regularly. “DO NOT LET THIS BOOK OF THE LAW DEPART FROM YOUR MOUTH; MEDITATE ON IT DAY AND NIGHT, SO THAT YOU MAY BE CAREFUL TO DO EVERYTHING WRITTEN IN IT. THEN YOU WILL BE PROSPEROUS AND SUCCESSFUL.” Joshua 1:8 (NIV) “OH, HOW I LOVE YOUR LAW! I MEDITATE ON IT ALL DAY LONG.” Psalm 119:97 (NIV) “MY EYES STAY OPEN THROUGH THE WATCHES OF THE NIGHT, THAT I MAY MEDITATE ON YOUR PROMISES.” Psalm 119:48 (NIV) Biblical meditation is essentially thought digestion. Another word for biblical meditation is “rumination.” Rumination is what a cow does when it chews its cud. Scriptural meditation is reading a passage over and over again, then thinking about and concentrating on it in different ways until you have digested its meaning. What could your life become if you seriously meditated on God’s commands and or promises and put them into practice? God’s Word is ALIVE…LET’S LIVE IT!! Pastor Carnes
