DAY 83: Playwright Cusi Cram Cusi Cram is another one of those writers we just love. Ever had the crazy idea of writing a play and presenting it in only 4 days? Forget inhibitions, just get the raw Truth on the page cause thats all you have time for?... sound brutal and amazing all at the same time? It is. And that -her Writing Triathalon intensive- is just one of the things Cusi does as a faculty member at Primary Stages. And Cusis certainly got the creds to impart the craft on to others... Not only has she written some fabulous plays (with fabulous titles!) like DUSTY AND THE BIG BAD WORLD, LUCY AND THE CONQUEST, THE END OF IT ALL, and... one of our favorites, in title and content... THE WILD INSIDE, Cusi is a recipient of the Herrick Theater Foundation New Play Prize, the Camargo Foundation Fellowship, a Bogliasco Fellow and a T.H.R.E.E. time EMMY NOMINEE for her work on PBSs ARTHUR (other TV credits THE OCTONAUTS and THE BIG C)... not to mention she was recently granted a fellowship from the American Film Institutes Directing Workshop for Women that resulted in writing and directing her first film - WILD & PRECIOUS (now in post production)... she ALSO happens to be West Village royalty... literally - her mother a true Lady (Lady Jeanne Campbell, to be precise) and Cusi having lived in the Village her whole life. We dont know how she crams (yes, we did.) in all of that amazingness... its just a part of who she is. Another beautiful artist that were proud to have in our neighborhood. 90 artists. 90 days. 90 years.
