DAY FOUR Follow the Leader Indian Runner Ducks - a study oil on board 20cm x 20cm When Im under pressure and havent got much time to paint (like now) it kinda puts me in a panic especially when my precious block of time is ticking away. What shall I do? what shall I paint? Oh, God, Ive just wasted ten minutes dithering! Yes, youve guessed it...I hadnt planned todays painting at all. I decided to turn to my sketchbook for ideas and hopefully, inspiration. Ive always found these Indian Runner Ducks highly comical, especially when they run en masse with their built-in herd instinct. They never fail to put a smile on my face! I started sketching them last year but never took the studies any further. Today, I wanted to get a feel for their tightly-packed grouping and the hilarious way their lower bodies move in contrast to their upright upper half. At some point, Id like to do maybe a series of paintings. Todays effort was the most challenging so far due to time constraints and the fact Im still getting to grips with my new medium - oils. I seriously need some help/advice/workshop as I havent a clue what Im doing with them. BTW Anyone know how best to preserve whats left on the palette? Heres a link to a runner duck video. Link in first comment. Bless their little cotton socks.
