DAY FOURTEEN: Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty does - TopicsExpress

DAY FOURTEEN: Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. Purposed Woman! Discover the purest beauty! In the age of the selfie, we are in times where women are being lulled into obsessions with charm and vanity, as opposed to the true beauty that Gods Word often speaks of. In our pursuits for the perfect career, spouse, family, body, achievements, and all the trimmings of our little glass house, we often lack the beauty that really counts. Even this new quest to be natural, that for many is everything BUT natural, we are still obsessing ladies! You would think there would be a liberation in these pursuits as they can easily be passed off as self care and pampering, but I often inquire of God, what is really at the root of this obvious pursuit for beauty? This pursuit crosses economic, cultural, age, and marital status, and in addition it is a global issue amongst women who spend their time, affections, and finances to obtain the vain beauty that will charm and impress others. I am not knocking a womans desire to look or be her best. In a time where people are careless and wreckless, there should be more of that, but purposed women where do we draw the line between health and obsession? The bible instructs us in I Peter 3:3-4, Don’t depend on things like fancy hairdos or gold jewelry or expensive clothes to make you look beautiful. Be beautiful in your heart by being gentle and quiet. This kind of beauty will last, and God considers it very special.(CEV) And our key scripture today states that charm is deceitful, meaning it is not genuine or true, and that exterior beauty will not last, but it is a woman who is dressed in the fear of the Lord that shall be praised. Why does the scripture shift to the woman being praised? It is because God knows all of our pursuits for this exterior beauty and charm are really done to be praised. From self praise, to the praises of men, and the praises and affirmations of others... This is why these pursuits are impure and fleeting. We must trade the impure for the pure so that we can be praised for representing Him and not the worlds standard of beauty. Purposed woman today make the unfading beauty of God your pursuit. Lets pray: Father, forgive me for vain pursuits! Forgive me for the dissatisfaction and discontentment with all you have given me. Help me to focus less on the exterior and more on the interior so Your glory will be seen and less attention will be on me. I want to reverence You before all things, and receive my rewards and compliments from You and not others. I declare I am in pursuit of more of You, and less of me. In Jesus name, Amen.
