DAY OFF, well part thereof … yesterday: lunch at Jean-Michel at Knickerbocker Smart terrine and condiments, and a “French Onion soup crème brulee” that was interesting and enjoyable, but mismatched with its “salad” of witlof and marinated mushrooms. A good start to lunch; followed by a lovely rabbit pot pie. This is probably the best dining outlook in the village, with Thredbo River bubbling below and the mountain above, and this food makes it worth a visit. Today it’s snowing here as I sit sorting out the wine list for this Friday’s start. The village is covered in snow, as is the road in, creating havoc as numerous cars skidded off the sides. Not so good for those who forgot to fit their chains but for those headed south for the school holidays it’s great news.
