DAY SEVEN Zechariah 4:6 … ‘ Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord almighty. Here we are moving into the seventh day. What a day to rejoice in. With His Spirit we can move mountains. We know that. Then how is it that we have so much trouble at times? If we are filled with His Spirit, and yet we have so many struggles and so many weaknesses, what’s going on? Is this scripture not true? Or do we really know how to be empowered by His spirit completely. See I think we have learned how to plug into His Spirit, but I think the Word teaches us so much more than that. I believe that as we learn to move in the spirit and we see signs and wonders, we can allow ourselves to get so caught up in that, forgetting some of the most important things, Like LOVE!!!! I have watched spirit filled people move in such rudeness, while claiming the Holy Spirit tells them to be that way. They call it boldness, or straight forwardness. They say that they are just misunderstood. {been there, myself} That God has called them to speak direct. We confuse gentleness, as timid. Which is in comparison with the worldly view of, “kindness is a weakness,” this is not in line with the Word of God. So what is in line with the Word when it comes to moving in full power of the Holy Spirit. Well let’s take a look. In Romans 8, it teaches us about life through the spirit, but then we come into 1st Corinthians 12, and it begins to teach about the spiritual gifts. Gifts not on our own accord, but operated only with and through the Holy Spirit. Not with our own power. As we continue into chapter 13, we read this “ and now I will show you the most excellent way.” As we read in 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, this is what it says; “If I speak in tongues of men and angels, but not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing .” So basically here it says none of this matters and has no power, without love. But you say, oh but I do love, I do keep the two greatest commands. Which are love the Lord your God with all your heart, and love your neighbor like yourself. As I think about the Biblical definition of love, I have to ask us all to read on what the Word says real love is? Let’s take a look at what the Word says about love, we find this as we read on in chapter 13 of 1 Corinthians, starting with verse 4-8; “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self -seeking it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. Wow, I challenge you to reread this and let it really soak in, cause I think we take this scripture lightly. See I think we go ok, I treat the non-believer with love. I am gentle as I try to love them into the kingdom, which is important, the bible even tells us this, but I think as we are doing that, we forget to move in love with our fellow believers, our own family, especially the way we respond to them in all ways. Are we sensitive to the Holy Spirit, making us sensitive to people’s feelings? Love is an attribute and character of Jesus Christ and we are to mirror Christ. We say this especially when it comes to moving in signs and wonders, but very few times do we put actions in our own lives the way Jesus expressed His feelings to others, and the way He laid His life down for others. In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus received all the power of the Holy Spirit, through His love for His Father. In his weakness, under the power of man, he spoke these words, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” A little while later He says again, “My Father if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.” See this is what developed the humility of Christ. Another attribute of Christ. We find what this is in Philippians 2:1-4; “ If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility considering others better then yourself. Each of you should look not only to your own interest, but also to the interest of others.” The humility of Christ is what exalted Jesus to the highest place in the Kingdom. In verse 5 it says, “ Your attitude should be that of Christ Jesus.” Empowered by the Spirit Philippians 2:6-10 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself and became obedient to death even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, Jesus passed this same authority down to us, through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. In John 3:8 it tells us what it looks like to be born of the Spirit, and in the book “the Shack” { a must read} author William Young, I feel he gives personality to the Holy Spirit better than anyone else. { this is my opinion} So in conclusion, let your spirit be free like the wind blowing wherever it pleases, bringing no offence to anyone you come in contact with, experiencing the true love of God, releasing the full empowerment of the Holy Spirit completely in your life, making you victorious in, “SPIRITUAL FREEDOM”
