DC Cab Driver Blessings: You never know when or where blessimg will come from, who will be giving them amd who will receive them. My day was blessed by the cab driver on my 45 minute cab ride journey that took me from the hotel to the airport in DC. He was born and raised in Pursia, was a pilot in the Iranian Air Force where he did his training...guess where...Vance AFB in Enid, OK! I told him I grew up 70 miles from there. He had been in prison for a number of years for some reasons that were because of doing something right and standing up during the revolution that was going on over there at the time. He was released and given a moment of time to flee, so he packed up his two children and wife and came to America. Fast forward to today...his so graduated as a Dentist from Boston University and his daughter will graduate from medical school at Georgetown University. He just retired but drives a cab to help his daughter to get through school. He thanked me for my services and what this country has done for him. He is proud to have two children that can give back to a country that accepted them here. His family received their green cards and have been citizens of this country. They came here with nothing and were accepted. He told me Oklahoma was a place he wants to go back to because people were sincere and trusting and wholesome. He is indebted to this country and why he works so hard in his work but also raising those children. I thanked him for sharing his story and he thanked me for listening. It makes me think of the ceremony they have by the immigration office each cycle of Marines before graduation. We have recruits tha raise their hand to train and fight for this country before they are actually citizens of this country. This all started by the simple fact that I was carrying my dress blues with me from conducting a wedding and him asking if I served in the military. He loves the American military and said he loved workin with us when he was serving. He shook my hand, we both smiled, thanked each other, and I know for sure two people were blessed today. As a wise man once said, ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.. So I ask you, are you taking for granted te freedom you have by being an American citizen? Are you waiting for others to serve you OR are you taking te initiative and serving others by living a life of integrety and loyalty and respect? If not, why not? Are you the citizen you want to be? Have tpu wver thought about, If not, who do you want to be, and how are you going to get there? The man I spoke of above didnt take lightly his citizenship...my question, the hard question we all have to ask is...do i take my freedom lightly? Even though God was never mentioned in the entire conversation, the Spirit of God was in that place. He actually brought up a priest that was so great to him and his family while in Enid. You could since the Spirit of God within this man. I was blessed today by a cab driver in DC. You never know wjere a small convo can lead. Still amazed and this was 14 hours ago.
