DC Vintage Watches offers for bid a beautiful pre-loved retro Zodiac (Heuer) quartz dive watch, presented with a quality sturdy stitched NATO-like strap, which dates to the late 1980’s and keeps accurate time.Yes, we know we always said that DC Vintage would remain non-digital – but then again, we have always had a soft spot for quartz Heuers! This model represented one of the last “real” dive watches, as the Point-Series was discontinued circa early 1992. Zodiacs of this era share many of the same design cues as the early to mid 1980’s-era Heuer divers (see the pictures for a comparison of this Zodiac with its Heuer sibling!), as discussed in the respected OnTheDash forum, here. Heuer historically sold its movements and cases to be branded under separate names, Zodiac included, going back to the 1960’s – including the ever popular Heuer Autavia model. In fact, Willy Gad Monnier, formerly of TAG Heuer purchased the Zodiac brand in 1990, and the company went bankrupt – and the last of the “real” Zodiacs ceased production in 1997. Separately, an in-depth history of the TAG Heuer/Heuer 1000 Series can be found here at the excellent Calibre11 website.
