DCH Marine, Inc, the parent corporation to MARINE ASSIST, has been awarded the job of replacing covered slips 1-24 at the Pleasant Hill Community Dock near the mouth of Wolf Creek on Lake Cumberland. This quarter million dollar renovation will be done to replace the aging original slips in the marina that have been in use since the late 1960s. The marina will have new galvanized steel framed dock structure installed with new concrete tops, new up to date floatation, new roofing and all new storage cabinets for the same slips to match the rest of the marina. We will not be adding any new slips to the marina, only replacing the old ones and updating to todays new standards for length, width, snow load and other requirements. This project has been fully approved and permitted by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Work is scheduled to begin on or about October 1st, 2014. If you have a boat located in this marina in the slips being replaced, I ask it to be removed and the locker cleaned out by October 1st. If you have a boat in a slip anywhere from slip 25-74, be aware there will be a period of time when you will not have access to the marina, due to the construction. There will also be no power to the entire marina after October 1st until the project completion. I will do my best to keep access to the marina available as long as possible, so if there are any questions simply call me to check before you come down. The new dock is being built by a company I am the exclusive area dealer for called Pier Genius out of Iowa. The dock may look like every other dock frame on the lake, but it is very different. It is built using rectangular steel box, rather than angle iron. That makes a much more sturdy frame and one that is warranted for 25 years. I will be posting pictures of the progress as things move along. We expect to have this and a boat house renovation project in the same area completed by the end of 2014. If anyone has any questions about any of this, or for a quote for your dock needs, give me a call to discuss it.
