DCLM Higher Everyday | A daily devotional for the victorious youths of this generation TOPIC: JOY OF THE JUST Monday, March 10, 2014 | Posted by ICT ADMIN| DCLM Text: “Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruits be in the vines…Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.” (Habakkuk 3:17-18) Joy is one of the seven components of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Joy is “great happiness.” Happiness is a natural emotional feeling, but joy is spiritual. The Christian, not sinner, manifests joy even under bad conditions. People generally manifest gladness when there is success, good news, and the like. For Habakkuk, low business or scarcity of food would not remove his joy in the Lord. The joy of the Lord gives strength to overcome depression, worry, fear, failure and defeat. The Kingdom of God is “…righteousness , and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” If you lose your joy in the Lord, you will become cheerless, bitter, and irritable; and such a person cannot go far with the Lord. Those who are seated with Christ in heavenly places will not allow delay in answer to prayers, or anything on earth to overshadow their joy in the Lord. Paul and Silas sang praises to God in jail and Peter slept well there too because they were just men. Joy attracts God’s favours. It’s yours if you are saved. Challenge: The joy of the LORD is my strength. Prayer: Lord, help me to keep my joy in you.
