DEADLINE is December 5!! The 2015-2016 Call for Applications for the Aboriginal Languages Initiative (ALI) at the Department of Canadian Heritage is now open. The Aboriginal Languages Initiative supports community-based projects that contribute to the revitalization and preservation of Aboriginal languages in Canada. Please note: •projects that provide direct language instruction must be held outside of grade K-12 classes or accredited course work; and •projects that develop new language learning resources (or use existing learning resources) must have a broad appeal and a detailed distribution plan. Please note that funding is limited. Funding recommendations are made through a competitive, merit-based process. Not every eligible project will receive funding, and it is possible that an approved funding application may receive a lower amount than was requested. As per Treasury Board of Canada Directives on Transfer Payment Policy, the Program should provide the minimum level of support required to achieve the expected results. If you are interested in applying for funding, please visit our website to view the application requirements at: pch.gc.ca/aboriginal If your organization is eligible and wishes to apply for funding, please email us at: [email protected] and we will email you the required application forms (forms are not available from the website). Please also note the following: •Requested funding amounts should aim to be between $25,000 and $100,000 •Projects must take place between July 1, 2015 and March 31, 2016. •The Department can only provide funding for approved eligible expenses incurred between July 1, 2015 and March 31, 2016. •Applicants must have a minimum of $2 million general liability insurance coverage. •If you have previously received funding, please ensure all reports have been submitted and accepted, as outstanding issues may negatively impact funding decisions. •At their conclusion, projects must demonstrate measurable results and positive community outcomes. To be eligible, complete application packages must be received by December 5, 2014. Please choose to either mail or email your application package.
