DEADMA POLICY! in less than two weeks classes at San Beda College have had to be cancelled because of a bomb-scare. I have strongly urged my fellow administrators at San Beda to adopt a DEADMA POLICY in respect to bomb scares. What is happening is abundantly clear: We are becoming hostages of lousy Bedan students who phone in bomb threats when they are unprepared for classes or for tests. The DEADMA policy has legal and philosophical foundations. Legally, no school is an insurer of its students lives. All that is required of is is due diligence, and when we have secured entrances, scoured nooks and crannies, then we have complied with legal obligations. Philosophically, if any of us is blown up by a bomb, that is part of the risk of living and of attending school. Nothing more dramatic than human mortality. But enough is enough. What is happening is students who should never have been in Beda in the first place paralyzingly the operations of a school because their brains are inert!
