DEALING WITH DOUBT! “Greater is He that is in you than he who is in the world.” - 1 John 4:4 Don’t’ be discouraged if you have a hard time doing what is right. When a person is born again, he is truly a child of God, but he still has to learn how to walk. When a new Christian makes a mistake the devil tries to discourage him by making him think, “Now look at what I’ve done. I must not be a child of God or I would act differently.” My friend, you need to know the difference between the accusations of Satan and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Satan is the accuser; he offers no solutions and no comfort. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter Who will guide you and give you the power to live a holy life before God. Some new Christians become confused and give way to doubt. They think, “I can’t live a Christian life; it’s too hard for me. I might as well go back to my old life and not try to serve God. Besides, I don’t see the great change in myself that the Christians talk about. I don’t feel any joy of salvation. I guess I’m not a Christian after all.” My friend, have you struggled with doubt? Have you inwardly said some of these very things to yourself? Don’t worry about how you feel. The more you learn about what God did when He made you His child, the more joy you will have. As you thank Him for your salvation and His many blessings your joy will grow. Remember too, your salvation doesn’t depend on what you feel or what you don’t feel; it depends on what Jesus did on the cross for you. My friend, Jesus said, “It is finished,” and He meant it. Rest in His finished work and the doubts will leave you.
