DEAR WHITE PEOPLE: If you are counting on the establishment of multicultural families to wipe out racism - stop. We already tried that. This country is *already* populated by beautiful genetic combinations with a diverse multi-ethnic people - thru slavery. An utter erasure of our heritage that we have rebuilt from the bellies of slaveships. My blonde blue eyed grandmother is a Black woman. She gave birth to four surviving children, two with blue eyes, two with brown. The eldest, my mother, is light tan and often mistaken for Mexican. My uncle had brown very slanty eyes and was assumed Chinese til he spoke ( like his uncle who died in the Korean war). The two blue eyed ones look Italian or Cuban or just plain White, depending on the season. And my mother gave birth to another Black woman, me, who is frequently presumed multiracial If racism were something to be magically bred out of this nation, it has had *centuries* to do it. Black women already know history shows they do not care how diverse our genetic make up, how rich our heritage, how many races we claim proudly.Brown skin is all the recognition needed to pull the trigger. Tonights verdict reaffirms that not only do they have the right to kill us, but they see no justifiable reason to ask why. Meanwhile, a 12 yr old boy was gunned down three days ago for brandishing a bb gun, and a black man was sentenced to 23 yrs in prison for shooting a police dog.
