The show remained on the air for 13 years...1960-The Beatles played a welcome home gig in Liverpool, England after having completed a series of shows in Hamburg, Germany. Bass player Stuart Sutcliffe did not return with the group, opting to spend the winter in Germany...1962-The Beatles first single Love Me Do reached its peak of No. 17 on the British singles chart. Cynics suggested that manager Brian Epstein personally bought 10,000 copies to boost its position...1969-Diana Ross and the Supremes were No.1 with Someday Well Be Together, the groups 12th and final chart topping single...1969-Abbey Road by the Beatles was No.1 on the album chart. Englands Led Zeppelin were sitting at No.2 with Led Zeppelin II. That LP featured their first American hit, Whole Lotta Love. And the No. 3 album on this day in 1969 was The Rolling Stones classic Let It Bleed which featured classic tracks like You Cant Always Get What You Want and Gimme Shelter...1980-John Lennons album, Double Fantasy, began an 8-week run at No.1 on the album chart.
