These are the events of Johns last day alive: Early in the afternoon at home, John began an interview with a New York City radio station. At about 5pm he headed to a recording studio to put some final touches on his forthcoming Double Fantasy album. He remained there until nearly 11 pm when he took the short ride back to his home at the Dakota Hotel. As Lennon walked to his front door, he was gunned down by a crazed fan named Mark David Chapman. Chapman eventually pled guilty to the crime and is still in jail. Many Americans first heard the news of Lennons murder when it was announced during a broadcast of Monday Night Football featuring the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins.
