DECEMBER 16 - The “Battle of the Bulge” was a major WWII offensive launched when German forces mounted a severe and surprise attack against Allied troops in the Ardennes Forest of Bastogne, Belgium - on this day in 1944 (it would last through Jan. 25, 1945). The Americans held on and, when weather cleared, American bombers came by the hundreds driving back the Germans. It became the costliest battle of WWII for the US; out of 610,000 American men, there were over 108,000 casualties including 19,246 killed, 62,489 wounded, and 26,612 captured or missing (source: US Dept. of the Army) and ultimately ended in a decisive Allied victory! Pray for soldiers and their families; pray for veterans and their families (Thank you for your service!). Thank God for peace and salvation in Jesus Christ.
