DECEMBER 17, 2014 - European Parliament resolution on the recognition of the Palestine Statehood. In the resolution adopted Wednesdayit is stated that the European Parliament supports in principle the recognition of the Palestinian state and the two-state solution, and believes that this must go hand in hand with the development peace negotiationswhich must be move forward . To support the efforts of European diplomats in the peace process in the Middle East, it was decided to launch the initiative Parliamentarians for Peace, to reunite MEPs and members of the parliaments of Israel and Palestine. The resolution was drafted by five political groups and was approved by the entire Parliament with 498 votes in favor, 88 against and 111 abstentions. Parliament reaffirmed its strong support for the two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as capital of both states and with a State of Israel and a Palestinian State secure independent, democratic, territorially contiguous and capable of autonomous existence, living side by side in peace and security, on the basis of the right to self-determination and full respect of international law. MEPs condemn in the strongest terms all acts of terrorism or violence.
