DEDICATE / GIVE YOURSELF FIRST UNTO GOD The Apostle Paul’s statement in 2Corin8:5 as ff, is as relevant as in our present times: “And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God”, portrays a picture of a week old child being dedicated to the Lord by his parents. I am sure the heavens do appreciate it as a first step towards grooming / growing into knowing the Lord and surrendering to His Lordship and salvation. Anyone who participates in an Olympic Games, does so not as a Spectator(eg Usain Bolt) but a real Competitor, running roughshod over all others with an ultimate aim of winning the foremost prizes - gold. If God gave His best(not on a silver-platter), but as ransom for man’s salvation(Matt20:28, 1Tim2:5-6), we ought to reciprocate this priceless/incalculable gesture with a qualitative service unto Him(Colo3:23-24). In the epistle ref. 1Corin9:24-26 was what has become a measuring instrument meant to make us refrain from haphazard approach to doing things:- “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air”. A corruptible crown will i not recommend, judging from the quality and merit(Precious Blood of Christ) needing a befitting reciprocity, mutual, to match the love of God towards us. As mentioned in the introductory script of what some believers were accustomed to - “……first gave their own selves to the Lord….”: What in our days do we to practicalize / match that gesture?. Personally, I observe every single day as a ‘GIFT’ from God fully loaded, in line with the Psalms118:24 that says:- “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it”. When I become conscious on bed that I am alive, not in transition, and my Mind, Spirit and Body agree in a concerted manner to make me mobile, I check or make diagnostic assessment of all members of my body, like a driver’s usage of a checklist of a car(all of head region, limbs, thoracic cavity etc, etc functioning), I spontaneously utter the ff: ‘Father thank U in Jesus name’. It would sound simple but power laden. If drowning Peter said ‘Lord save me’ and Jesus stretched forth His hand to save him; If Jesus lifted few loaves of bread & fish and simply said “ Father Thank You”, to feed five(5)thousand men, excluding women and their children, mine( 6 words) meant to acknowledge that I am His property, above all, a temple He inhabits, will open doors beyond my comprehension. This is my 1st and foremost Dedication to God to assist Manage me. Yes!! I am a Manager but He is the SOVEREIGN & ULTIMATE in the affairs of men, and this recognition is highly commendable. It looks simple in the imagination of my cherished reading public but my testimony is that for twenty-four (24)years, this spiritual exercise has seen me through sickness free, and the successes chalked, I ………..
