DEDICATED TO ALL TEACHERS. Many hold that the chief qualities that a teacher should cultivate, is infinite, readiness to serve the students, poor or rich alike and amiable manners. first are the outward symbols of interest towards the students; and a token of genuine love for the profession and last show your dedication, which inspires confidence in the students. Teachers must have professional integrity of a high order, learn professional ethics, maintain professional secrecy and show in real life good manners. Teachers must not neglect the human aspects of a student, which needs attention first and next only his education. Put Service before other considerations. All these count more than your actual technical skill. Learn to give and take toleration, to grapple with grotesque predicaments, appreciate there is some goodness behind every student, that life is not really serious and that teachers are not such bloody important people after all. Try to acquire these qualities which will always stand you in good stead. In the great task of education, teachers play an important part and their role is one of the great responsibilities. Factual knowledge can be acquired from books, but if that knowledge is to be transmitted into practical wisdom, the influence of personal example, which is supplied very largely by teachers, is essential. By their carelessness they can easily vitiate the character of their students. Teachers have to be very guarded and vigilant about their ways before their pupils. Make the students realize that the school is an extension of their homes and that the school is a replica of their homes without its rigor. These things need a lot of personal sacrifices. sometimes you may have to neglect your own responsibilities at home. But service before self should always be your motto. The true service rendered by teachers cannot be measured in terms of gold and silver. For, a teacher builds up the Kingdom of mind. Perhaps this is the most noble and the highest achievement of a man. To form the mind is to make the real man or woman. If you make the student understand that you are genuinely interested in their progress and welfare,they are sure to appreciate your help and also take the fullest advantage of it. Your pupils will be affected from your beliefs, ideas, convictions and modes of behavior. By your example of truthfulness, simplicity, perseverance, faith and courage, you can instill in your pupils all these qualities. Every teacher should create in the school, a healthy atmosphere; and you will be remembered kindly by your students kindly on this TEACHERS DAY. I was a teacher myself once.
