DEED OF DONATION OF BULAN ECOPARK STILL MISSING NEWS AND INFORMATION BUREAU July 9, 2013 The newly assumed administration of Mayor Marnellie Ballesteros Robles has yet to see the Deed of Donation – or any other legal documents – that will show and be proof that the 14-hectare Bulan EcoPark in Barangay Calomagon is indeed a property of the Local Government Bulan. “We must see all documents that will attest the rights of the Bulan LGU and prove that the EcoPark is owned by our local government”, Mayor Robles firmly declared yesterday during the flag-raising ceremony. The lady chief executive reminded everyone that attended the flag-raising that the local government of Bulan had been spending Three Million Five Hundred Thousand (PhP 3,500,000.00) every year of the people’s money for the operation, maintenance and development of this EcoPark. Or, roughly Thirty Five Million Pesos (PhP 35,000,000.00) for the past ten years already. Likewise, every year – for the past nine years – thousand of Bulaneños from all walks of life trooped to the EcoPark and plant tree seedlings during the celebration of the “Pyesta sa Kabubudlan”. Every participant donated his or her time and efforts with the firm belief that the EcoPark is owned by the local government of Bulan. It is the common knowledge of the people of Bulan that the 14-hectare hilly and cogonal land was donated by the De Castro Family to serve as the dumpsite of the municipality. This was also repeatedly announced by the former Mayors Guillermo O. de Castro and his wife Helen C. de Castro. The area, however, had been already transformed into EcoPark with a portion still used as dumpsite. Mayor Robles declared firmly that if there will be no Deed of Donation presented or shown to prove Bulan LGU ownership of the EcoPark, her Administration will surely and immediately file appropriate case against those who are responsible for allocating and spending public funds for the development and maintenance of a property not owned by the LGU. ---------- 0 ----------
