DEFINE Yes, I’m young and I’ll admit ignorance can get the better of me I couldn’t understand how anyone could look past my every insecurity I thought that nothing would return if I ever let him go And a life without him in it was something I didn’t know But now, all of his actions make me far more aware The person that I fell in love with is no longer there I don’t miss him, I miss the person he used to be No one deserves to be treated the way he treated me. Foolish it is to think what someone lends you, defines you As all he ever gave was something dishonest, impure and untrue All the stars and the sunsets were purely lies I had planted in my mind Because I know I am much more than just what he had left behind There’s nothing more sickening than living within a lie And forcing yourself to spit out the life you deny Because if there is anything more priceless than this life itself It’s that glow under your skin when you just be yourself So do what makes you happy and keep your head up high Because even in the darkness, there are still stars in the sky Don’t ever think you need someone to make you who you are You are your own kingdom, your own soul and your own star. And keep your heart up in your head because its beat is so strong Don’t ever take yourself for granted or doubt what’s right or wrong Let the world see your smile and don’t let anyone take it away And of all the things I can stress, don’t feel the pain of yesterday.
