DEFINITION OF TERMS *Pagsilab-is a common to the upland Barangays of lake Duminagat, Gandawan, Mansawan, Small Potangan and lowland Peniel. *Lampas- is an activity common to the study sites in Don Victoriano: in Barangay lake Duminagat, thys is done in the months of December. *Pras- is experienced longer in barangay Peniel than in any of the study sites. *Gan-us Dupi- is only in four study sites: the upland Barangays of lake Duminagat, gandawan, Small Potongon, and the lowland Barangay of mamalad. *Samaluna- is in the upland Barangays as follows; during the months of January and March in Barangay lake Duminagat. *Homo Sapiens- must exert a determined effort to think and integrate use of resources with the total ecosystem in the face of threats to the environment which overwhelm its ability to reproduce resources. REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE The literature in the Philippines and else where on indigenous knowledge system and on the components there of is not scant. A good number describe the importance of indigenous knowledge for natural resource management and sustainable development.
