DEL VALLE (LIVERMORE) The water temperature is 77 degrees at the dock. The secret to success is to be on the lake very early in the morning. The stripers, smallmouth, and largemouth bass have been hitting in the early mornings and early evenings. They have been hitting lip-less crank baits, top water lures such as spooks, frogs (hard or soft plastic), and any light colored lures. Most bass are caught at Heron Bay along the shelves and throughout the Narrows along the rock ledges and reed beds. Catfish are on fire throughout the whole day deep into the coves of Heron Bay, on the south end, and narrows towards down trees and reed beds throughout the lake. Best bait right now is mackerel for catfish, and anchovies for both catfish and stripers.
