The party primaries are about to begin. It is the time the various political parties select their reputable candidates for the various elective political offices. Primary election is an election that narrows the number of candidates before an election for office. Primary election is one means by which a political party nominates candidate(s) for an upcoming general-election. The essence of this is to take power of candidates nomination from party leaders to the people in a progressive movement through a selected number of delegates. Primary election when carried out in transparent manner, serves as a veritable tool for taking decision making from political insiders to voters. Nomination of candidate that reflects the wish of majority party members through selected party delegates in primary elections, guarantees good governance which is obvious of good leadership under a visionary leader who understands when and how to pursue and actualise such a vision through the formulation of good policies and programmes that would benefit the entire society. The reality of democracy is the tangibility of its dividends which is only attainable when genuine leaders pilot democratic machineries of the society.l Any society that wishes to grow, must take the bull by the horn by venting their mandate on leaders in whom leadership traits are vested naturally and nurturally. Leadership to a very large extent requires intelligence, accountability, passion driven, tolerance, experience, good understanding of ones environment and ones followers(the led), humility, unassuming, wisdom, obedience, and the fear of God and when leaders that possess such qualities as in the case of senator okowa are nominated, such a society is bid to travail in glory. No wonder the scripture says when the righteous are in power, the people rejoice. This is the case of a leader that makes the above qualities his watch-word. The essence of internal democracy through party primaries affords party members the vast opportunity to participate in nomination of candidate. As Deltans eagerly await the governorship primaries slated to hold in less than three months from now, the privilege chosen delegates must on their part reject any attempt to sway them from making a wise choice. Its therefore necessary to remind them that the future of Delta state is in their hands; they should avoid actions and behaviours that are capable of jeopardizing the economic and political future of Delta state and the future of generations yet unborn. Deltans expect a bright future in no distance from now, and the future starts from the delegates that will be drawn from the 25 local government areas of Delta state. Dear delegates, before you cast your votes, think about Delta state deeply since 1999 till date, think about the future of your children whom you may have spent alot, sold your valuables to train in the higher institutions only to have met all that is required of them as graduates and yet no job, think about your means of livelihood; are you contented with where you are right now?, think about the state of infrastructure before you go ahead to make your choice, think about the learning environment of your children and that of the far less privilege, are you satisfied with the health conditions of our health institutions? where have your decisions in the past primaries landed us? have they been favourable? Would it have paid our state better if you had accepted that token from those who persuaded you against your wish which would have alleviated the living conditions of our people? Give it a pulse, you have not failed this generation because no time is too late to put the reverse gear on your decisions. There is hope for the living; all you need to do is to cast your vote wisely for a candidate with vast knowledge about leadership, candidate with so much experience, that will be accountable to the people, humble, obedient, trustworthy, sincere and God fearing in whose hands our treasury will be safe. Vote for economic and political freedom.Vote for unity.Vote for development. Do not sell your conscience and the future of your children and Delta state for a temporary hunger. Your principle should not be compromised; stand like rock to rewrite history. Do not disappoint God because he is so much interested in the future of your children, yours and that of Delta state.
