DELHI TRAFFIC POLICE DATED: 17.10.2013 TRAFFIC ADVISORY IN CONNECTION WITH THE SHOBHA YATRA OF LORD MAHARISHI BALMIKI JANAMAHOTSAV ON 18.10.2013 AT 1400 HOURS. On 18th October 2013 at about 1400 hrs under the aegis of different Maharishi Balmiki Janamostav Committees, a commemorative procession will be taken out in connection with Annual Janamahostav celebrations of Maharishi Balmiki. The procession is expected to start after 1400 hrs and is likely to terminate around 2100 hrs. The processionists will converge from various places in the city and start in form of procession on the following route: - ROUTE OF THE PROCESSION START FROM GAURI SHANKER MANDIR– GURUDWARA SIS GANJ – CHANDI CHOWK – TOWN HALL – NAI SARAK – BADSHAHBULLA CHOWK BAZAR– HAUZ QAZI – AJMERI GATE – PAHARGANJ PUL – D.B GUPTA ROAD- CHUNA MANDI – PAHAR GANJ – CHITRA GUPTA ROAD – GOLE MARKET AND WILL TERMINATE AT BHAGWAN BALMIKI MANDIR- MANDIR MARG, NEW DELHI. DIVERSION POINTS Traffic will be diverted as and when required at the following points: 1. Subhash Marg Red Fort Crossing 2. H.C Sen Marg 3. Town Hall 4. Badshahbulla Chowk 5. Naya Bans Road 6. Sita Ram Bazar 7. Asaf Ali Road 8. Ajmeri Gate 9. DBG Road Shiela Cinema 10. Chowk Paharganj 11. Chelmsford Road 12. Panchkuian Road Round About 13. Gole Market 14. Mandir Marg This procession takes about 7 hrs. to traverse the route from Chandni Chowk to Mandir Marg, New Delhi. A large number of religiously inclined devotees take part in this procession and an equally large number of enthusiastic spectators line up on the entire route to cheer up the processionists. This procession has a cascading effect on the roads in the vicinity of the procession route adversely affecting the normal flow of traffic in the area causing traffic congestion. Along the route the organizers will be accorded honour by the local resident committees on stages built along the roadside. Adequate traffic arrangements have been made to facilitate the movement of the procession and to ensure that normal pedestrian and vehicular traffic is caused minimum disruption or inconvenience. Citizens are requested to avoid using the affected roads and make use of Delhi Metro. Motorists are also advised to follow the directions given by the traffic personnel to ensure smooth movement and to minimize traffic congestion and disruption. (Anil Shukla) Addl.
