DELI / TAKE-AWAY SHOP ASSIST (Sarnia - Durban) Key Responsibilities • Control Stock: o Display merchandise/products to promote sales ; o Remove spoilt/damaged stock from displays; o Replenish stock and keep displays full whilst rotating stock to ensure freshness; o Monitor & remove expired stock; o KVI’s always in stock; o Promotional Products properly displayed; o Pre-pack products and label according to Supervisor’s instructions. • Hygiene and Housekeeping: o Maintain all display and food preparation equipment in clean and sanitary condition; o Clean food preparation areas and display cabinets according to schedules; o Sales area to be cleaned throughout; • POS and Pricing: o Maintain clean, tidy and accurate pricing and stack cards; o Replace damaged or spoiled P.O.S.; o Display themed P.O.S. material and product attractively and remove once theme has ended. • Customer Service: o Full range of well presented and fresh products to be served in a friendly and knowledgeable manner; o Take customer orders accurately and record all relevant details meticulously; o Provide feedback to supervisor on customer experience; o Promote product and merchandise to customers through product knowledge, wet demos, etc.; Job Requirements: Required Education & Experience • Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent • At least 1 years’ retail experience in fresh foods department, which should include sales / counter-hand experience. • Customer Service Skills & Training • Prepared to work Shifts • Creative Flair for product presentation and enjoy working with people Skills: • Communication – Able to communicate with customers, supervisor and tam members in English effectively. • Numeracy Skills – Able to calculate retail selling prices of products using a calculator. • Customer Service Skills – Able to serve customers in a friendly and caring manner, focusing on the delivering to the customer’s needs. • Display Building – Able to build effective and presentable displays • Merchandising – Merchandise products in an attractive and appealing manner so as to promote sales. Knowledge: • Knowledge of all hot and cold products from a retail deli & take-away. • Principle aspects of cooking and food preparation. • Knowledge of the Cold Chain and ideal storage temperature of individual products. • Knowledge of how to use and maintain Deli/Take-Away equipment • Food Safety/Hygiene and Housekeeping standards to maintain sanitary work environment. • Occupational Safety relating to the work hazards in the Deli/Take-Away and how to overcome/prevent them.
