DELIVERY DRIVERS Tonight, 44 years ago, Audience played Slough Technical College with Mick Abraham’s Wommet and Carol Grimes and Delivery. They were both good bands. Original Jethro Tull and Blodwyn Pig guitarist Mick Abrahams was always interesting and Wommet was a swinging little blues-based band with better than average material. The same could be said of Delivery. Carol’s a good singer but it was their rhythm section I found particularly fascinating and me and drummer Tony Connor found ourselves glued to the side of the stage enjoying the unconventional, driving interplay between Roy Babbington – latterly bass player for Nucleus, Soft Machine and Keith Tippett - and the late Pip Pyle on drums. Delivery was never a success but they were influential musicians - various of them being subsequently involved with founding Gong, Matching Mole and Hatfield and The North. https://youtube/watch?v=7bTvKRFMfmg
