The bible says dont give treasures to dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.That has made the governorship of Oil rich Delta state too important and extremely sensitive to be left in the hands of someone who does not know or understand the magnitude of the work at hand.Especially at a time after Gods sent Governor Uduaghan has set the pace for good governance. I can not boost of a perfect leader but I can do with a brilliant, clear-head plus a team of brightest brains who will not be living in fools paradise while majority of my fellow Deltans live in wanton discomfort.And that is why preparation is the biggest factor in being a leader like a state Governor.To be an Abiola, Awolowo,etc take many years of preparation and not by accident of history or circumstance. It takes a man with mission that understands what needs to be actualize at every point in time to govern a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic state like Delta and that is where Dr Festus Goziem Okubor becomes exceptional among all declared aspirants. While as Chairman of Ika North East local government, Dr Festus Goziem Okubor embraced minimalism in power displaying purpose and focusness.During Dr Festus Okubor days as state Director of protocol in Asaba they were no room for frivolities.The surrounding was reflecting a professional environment where philosopher were at work, Okubor has guts. I remember when Okubor was deputy Director General Uduaghan Campaign Organisation, people used to accuse him of being too economical with resources.Indeed, he had good reasons to be thrifty.He was never desperate but knows how to make the best out of the limited resources. What an Okubor will do with bigger resources is better imagined. The quality of projects executed during the era of Dr Festus Okubor as commissioner for health and Chairman, Delta state Hospital management board are reflectively comparable to international standards. Due to the multi-ethnic nature of Delta state, every progressive Deltan will love to crave for a bridge builder as a Governor and Dr Festus Okubor has shown that he believes in the unity of Delta state when he worked assiduously as commissioner for information , managing the dispensing of information among the people and ethnic group to maintain peace and stability and that has been one of the bedrock of the existing peace in the state. None of the men from Delta north who has declared interest in the gubernatorial race can combine leadership skills with political acumen, but Dr Festus Goziem Okubor through his present office as the chief of staff to the Governor has proven to be in a class of his own. He has mastered how to swim in the shark-infested waters of Deltas political ocean.His plainness, grace and humility are complimented by his intelligence, astuteness and vision.He is truly a veritable man worthy of entrusting the affairs of Delta state.
