DELTA GUBER 2015: THE ANIOMA ELDERS VISIT TO PRESIDENT JONATHAN, THE WILL ONLINE MISLEADING REPORT AND THE POTENCY OF SIR TONY OBUH’S CANDIDACY. Oct. 10, 2014 Text My phone rang early this morning, October 10, and the caller said: “have you heard that Mr. President has dropped the name of Sir Tony Obuh from the list of aspirants in Delta Gubernatorial race? And before I could say JACK, he roared; “just visit thewill and read the latest story. This is real and it is clear that Sir Obuh will not make it at the party primaries in November. Oh my Gosh! The little sleep in my eyes vanished. I sprang up and headed for my laptop with curiosity. I dialed up and got hooked to the “will website.” I quickly scan through to read and it turned out to be the greatest misleading online political report ever posted in the history of online journalism. The author was crafty as he used “corrupt coinage” to misinform the world about the political happenings in Nigeria and Delta State. The online news report was calculated to achieve one aim and that is to paint a black picture that President Goodluck Jonathan had assured the Anioma Elders delegation that nothing on the surface of the earth that make Obuh to clinch the PDP gubernatorial ticket in Delta State. If you x-ray the report a little further you will decode that the financiers of the Abuja trip are out to launch massive fraudulent political propaganda to scare Sir Tony Obuh from the gubernatorial race in Delta State. The ill-conceived intentions of these mischief makers is to the effect that once the soaring popularity of Sir Obuh is strangulated, then of course, they will have a level playing ground to perfect their desperate political agenda. In the light of the above political permutations by Sir Obuh’s detractors, I want to discuss three items under the following sub-headline; The Governor Uduaghan Factor, The Abuja Connection and The wish of PDP Stakeholders in Delta State. THE GOVERNOR UDUAGHAN’S FACTOR. The major panic in the other gubernatorial aspirants’ political camp is the fact that they claim to perceive the political deodorant of His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan around the atmosphere of the Tony Obuh 2015 Project. These crop of aspirants believe that Governor Uduaghan as PDP leader in Delta State must not interfere in the political process. The Governor must be neutral because he is no longer a politician since his tenure will expire in 2015. The second leg is that; Governor Uduaghan has no capacity to have an input in PDP’s choice of who becomes the party flag bearer because as an incumbent Governor he should not concern himself with the internal and external affairs of PDP. The Udaghan factor is thus responsible for the galvanization of the Abuja Connection which seeks to use presidential fiat to stop Sir Obuh from contesting so that the powerful aspirants who have “Aso Rock Connections” will meet as a caucus to anoint one of them as the party flag bearer. But how potent and realistic is the Abuja connection in state politics? Those who are relying on Abuja connection have only exposed themselves as disloyal party men and women to the State party leader in the person His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan. What is it that they have gone to Abuja to request that Gov Uduaghan does not have the capacity to resolve if their loyalty is transparent and perfect? Their moves have becomes an eye opener which His Excellency and the party leadership in the state can x-ray to re-strategize as we approach PDP primaries in November. The blunt truth is that the Governor is a major stakeholder in the state party affairs. He cannot be sidelined by any aspirant no matter the “Abuja connections.” Thank God we have an excellent president who knows the meaning of ”disloyalty” in party politics. The “disloyals” have a blink future in party politics. Those ganging up against our amiable Governor will either now or in the near future lick their wounds. His Excellency has a stake in this matter and as our party leader we go the way he want us to go especially in the present political dispensation, Period. The deviants may continue with their unprofitable political scheming but Governor Uduaghan cannot and will never be schemed out of Delta State PDP electioneering process. He has taken party to an enviable heights in the state and he deserves commendation and maximum respect from all party men and women irrespective of Aubja Connections. THE ABUJA CONNECTION. Talking about Abuja connection, I am pretty lost as to who have ears of Mr. President concerning Delta State affairs if not His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan. He is PDP number one state leader as the State governor and next is the Party Chairman in that order as far as party politics is concerned. What this group of disloyal politicians have done is to “jump the guns” by fraudulently requesting Mr. President to dissolve the state Party Executives and remove Governor Uduaghan as the Party leader so that the President can preside over PDP affairs in Delta State. If no so, why take your case to Mr. President when it can be handled effectively by party leaders and elders? They simply want to send signal to Governor Uduaghan that they can get whatever they want through the back door especially by asking Mr. President to order the Governor to do their wish. This is laughable. THE WISH OF PDP STAKEHOLDERS IN DELTA STATE. The intentions of the Anioma elders and the selfish political class that funded the Abuja trip, can also be viewed from undemocratic perspective. Their agenda is undemocratic in the sense that they do not want the involvement of the state PDP stakeholders in the choice of a party flag bearer in the present political dispensation. If possible, there should be no party primaries so as to enable Mr. President anoint one of them to be the party flag bearer. They now want Mr. President to take over the PDP machinery in the State so that His Excellency will have no say in the party affairs as it relates to the forthcoming governorship elections. These are the clear reasons why they decided to jump guns and opted for presidential assistance in the prosecution of their self, divisive and self-centered political agenda. The good news is that Mr. President showed them the way out – to back to Governor Uduaghan and work with him, period. Thank you, Mr. President. PRESIDENT JONATHAN’S RESPONSE TO THEIR VISIT. The Guardian Newspaper report on the visit of the Anioma Elders to Mr. President is clear on this matter. It was widely reported that President Jonathan refused to see any list of potential gubernatorial candidates. He respectfully told the Asagba of Asaba, Prof Edozein that gubernatorial issues are vested in the state party at the party primaries level and that they should go back to His Excellency, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to present their request and harmonize issues with the him and other leaders of the party. Mr. President was quoted as saying that he does not want to involve himself in the selection of party candidates because he will be acting ultra-vires his powers. THE WILL ONLINE MISLEADING REPORT. The report published by Willonline is the direct opposite of what the Nigerian dailies reported. The question therefore is who engineered the online report? Your answer is as good as mine. Sir Tony Obuh is strong in the race and no amount of blackmail or political propaganda will scare him or make him to submit to evil political scheming. Propagandist can go ahead and waste their time and resources. Sir Obuh remains the aspirant to beat. He has the pedigree, men and materials to prosecute his political ambition in accordance with PDP and INEC rules and regulations. CONCLUSION. Sir Tony Chuks Obuh is waxing stronger by the day and it is obvious that the other aspirants are having sleepless nights, plotting all kinds of strategies laced with political propaganda to dwindle his soaring political and acceptance by the electorate. The more misleading and sponsored online or print media reports, the more consolidated and progressive the Tony Obuh Project becomes. The Obuh candidacy is very potent. His political pedigree has attracted the best caliber of personalities to his team. This is a proof that the Obuhs ’s team is working very hard and the coming weeks and months will finally confirm his political supremacy over the other gubernatorial aspirants. Obuh, is indeed, the political DAVID of the Delta 2015 governorship race and no force can stop him. The finger of God is upon him and no weapon of political scheming and propaganda fashioned against him shall prosper. The political and electioneering beat is on and November 29 is the day other aspirants will bow to the Obuh political supremacy...... a month plus now all shall be settled
