DEMOCRACY WITH IMPUNITY:when the idea of democracy was thought out of the minds of the founding fathers, the whole world rejoiced. Both the jews and gentiles, freed and imprisoned, the lamed and the abled,the blacks and whites,the tall and short,the intellectuals and illiterates were all in a euphoral state,beleiving that the end of man inhumanity to man has come to an end because of this new form of government that guarranteed freedom of speech,liberty,movement etal.Though, this idealogy has worked very well in other climes but it has become a macabre dance in the Africa continent. A peep through the show of shame that transpired in zibambwe was an eye opener to the practical test of democry here in Africa.IF Robert mugabe of the zanu pf could still win election at the age of 89 that is to say unequivocally that what happened in zibambwe was a mere charade.My own concern prior to the election was how can the like of olusegun obasanjor be the leader of the monitoring team to an election when during his days as president in Nig, all we had was imposition and selection as against the tenet of democracy.The latin would say in this condition:"NEMO DATQUOD NON HABEAT" Meaning: you cant give what you dont have .i beg to know,obasenjor and mugabe who is to be monitored? Mugabe had once call Baba a renowned election rigger.It is belly-aching,stomach -aching,appalling,digraceful and regretably logumbrous that there is no working constitution that is people oriented in Africa. Africa my Africa,a land of peace,a land where my forefathers lived,a land with multiple culture.Is this your back that is bent?
