DENOMINATIONS WILL NOT QUALIFY ANYONE FOR HEAVEN! By denominations I mean the sectarian divisions of the Christian Church that see people gathering as Anglicans, Presbyterians, Baptists, Catholics, Pentecostals, Adventists, Methodists and even those who call themselves non-denominational. The latter may very well be called the “non-denominational denomination!” Why will these groups not enter anyone into heaven? 1. Because organizations/institutions/groups have no salvific power. Salvation is in no other name than the name of Jesus Christ according to Acts 4:12. 2. Jesus did not establish nor leave behind a denomination and neither did He encourage the establishment of one, let alone all the ones that exist. 3. These denominations divide rather than unite. 10:00 A.M. on Sunday morning is the “most divided time in the week.” Isn’t it ironical that we are so divided and keep dividing when our Lord said that people would know we are His disciples if we loved one another? He even prayed in John 17 that we would be one. 4. Most denominations are divided on minor aspects of doctrine and have no place for the main teaching of the Bible. I do not mean that we must ignore doctrine, but can’t we actually ignore the separating traditions envisaged in most of our beliefs? 5. Denominations have drawn people into spiritual myopia and hypocritical living. We say we love God and love people, but live quite opposite by insisting we cannot fellowship with so and so. We do not break bread together, share in community projects or even Christian events. I close by asking: How could we insist we are going to the same heaven described in the Bible when we cannot even get along here on earth? How might we share the best place ever if we could not cling together in this horrible world? By the way, if persecution broke out today against Christians, the persecuter will not want to hear which denomination you subscribe to! We would all face the “music!” PRAYER Bind us together Lord With cords that cannot be broken!
