The national weather service in reno has issued a lake wind advisory for lake tahoe...Which is in effect from 5 am to 11 pm pdt wednesday. A dense smoke advisory remains in effect until 8 pm pdt this evening. * Visibility: dropping to near one mile at times...Especially during the afternoon and early evening when additional smoke from the king fire is most likely to spread east of the sierra crest. * Impacts: periods of dense smoke will result in unhealthy air quality. Outdoor activities are discouraged. Travel may be impacted due to low visibility on interstate 80...Highway 50... Highway 89 and over sierra passes. * Winds: southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * Wave heights: 2 to 3 feet. * Small boats will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve. A dense smoke advisory is issued when smoke from wildfires significantly reduces visibilities...Making it difficult to see and breathe. The smoke will continue to be a problem until the fire becomes less active...Or a more favorable weather pattern disperses the smoke.
