DEPARTMENT ACTIVITY Thursday August 29th "B" shift responded to 17 calls 1 Excessive heat 10 EMS calls 2 MVA calls 1 Service call 2 Good Intent calls 1 Unintentional/False Alarm The excessive heat call was due to possible problems with the boilers at 933 Mentor Ave. The first MVA was a 2 car accident at Mentor and Hayes with minor to moderate damage to both cars. One person was transported. The second MVA was a child struck by a car in front of 386 W Jackson. The Child was transported to Tripoint Medical Center. Friday August 30th "C" shift responded to 14 calls 11 EMS calls 1 MVA 1 Hazardous Condition 1 Service call The MVA was a 2 car accident at the corner of Richmond and Skinner. There was no damage noticed by the fire crews and no one was transported. The hazardous condition was a branch lying across electrical lines. Saturday August 31st "A" shift responded to 13 calls 10 EMS calls 2 Service calls 1 Good Intent call Sunday September 1st "B" shift responded to 14 calls 6 EMS calls 1 MVA call 1 Hazardous Condition 2 Service calls 1 Good Intent call 2 Unintentional/False Alarms 1 Severe weather The MVA was a pedestrian hit by a car at the corner of N State and Chester. one person was life flighted to Metro. The hazardous condition was a case of high levels of carbon monoxide in a residence. The problem is believed to have been a malfunctioning stove. Gas was secured to the stove and the residence was ventilated. The severe weather was a house struck by lightening. There was moderate damage done to the house and garage i.e. siding blown off, electrical equipment blown apart, etc. but there was no fire. Monday September 2nd (Labor Day) "C" shift responded to 11 calls 1 Fire 7 EMS calls 2 Service calls 1 Unintentional/False Alarm The fire call was a reported fire at 1651 Mentor Avenue in Painesville Township. Our unit responded automatic mutual aid, on arrival we staged for a short time before being released.
