DEPRESSION In light of the suicides we are experiencing and just in case you have wondered silently or assumed faithful, godly Christians should not or do not experience depression ... 1. Moses was depressed – see Num 11:10-15. 2. Leah was depressed because of constant comparisons with her sister. 3. Hannah was depressed because of being barren – see 1 Sam 1:6-16. 4. David was depressed – see 1 Sam 30:1-6. 5. Elijah was depressed after the fire fell at Mt. Carmel – see 1 Kgs 19:4. 6. Jonah was depressed – see Jonah 4:1-9. 7. The psalmist was depressed -- see Ps 42:6. 8. Jeremiah was depressed – see Jer 20:7-10, 14-18, 11-12. 9. John the Baptist became depressed when he was finally arrested – see Mtt 11:1-6 and Lk 7:18-23. 10. Why was Jesus prophesied as “the Man of sorrows” in Isa 53:3? 11. Telling someone to “Snap out of it” will not get the job done!
