DESIGN CHALLENGE: The U.S. Department of State is working actively to combat one of the most pressing wildlife-trafficking threats today, the illegal ivory trade. The U.S. is pursuing a three-pronged strategy to strengthen enforcement, reduce demand, and build international cooperation and partnerships, including crushing seized illegal ivory to help consumers understand that every piece of that ivory came at the cost of a slaughtered elephant.
