DEVILS ADVOCATE WHO IS ABDUL GHANI bin PATAIL? ARE SABAH LEADERS SUBMISSIVE & SUICIDAL? . These are the public details of Abdul Gani Patail as set out in Wikipedia. Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Abdul Gani bin Patail (born 6 October 1955) is a Malaysian prosecutor. He is the current Attorney General of Malaysia. Abdul Gani was the lead prosecutor in former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahims sodomy trial of 1998.[1] Background Abdul Gani Patail graduated Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from the University of Malaya in 1979. He began his legal career the following year as a Deputy Public Prosecutor (the title for a prosecuting officer in Malaysia) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. In 1985, he was promoted to Senior Federal Counsel for Sabah.[2] In January 1994, Abdul Gani moved to the Attorney Generals Chambers in Kuala Lumpur. There he was appointed Head of the Prosecution Division (1994 and again in 2000), Head of the Advisory and International Division (1995) and Commissioner of Law Revision (1997).[2] On 1 January 2002, he was appointed Attorney General of Malaysia.[2] The article omitted mention that he might also have attended Wellington University New Zealand in the 1970s. He was appointed Malaysias Attorney General in 2002. That means he presided over all the repressive legal actions against citizens and amendments to the Constitution which he would have a hand as a Government legal advisor. He would also be advising the Government on amending the Sedition Act 1948. It is embarrassing that the amendments were also proposed by Sabahans in UMNO. Historically, Point 7 of the 20 Points was agreed to by Sabahans who gave in to Malayas insistence that there be no right to secede. Sarawakians were more conscious of their rights had demanded the right to secede. This was confirmed by Lord Lansdowne Chairman of IGC on Malaysia said in 1963 that: “any State voluntarily entering a federation had an intrinsic right to secede at will, and that it was therefore unnecessary to include it in the Constitution”. Tan Sri Abdul Gani appears to have ignored the above statement of Sabah and Sarawaks right to secede at will. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdul_Gani_Patail OFFICIAL PROFILE: agc.gov.my/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=115&Itemid=84&lang=en
