DEVOLUTION: A BLESSING OR A CURSE? If Kenyans are not careful, devolution will turn out to be a terrible curse, not a blessing as was meant to be. Ive heard of numerous cases of people being denied services and jobs because they hail(or perceived to hail) from other counties. Its even happening in big government hospitals. A patient at the coast general hospital is languishing with two broken limbs and has not been treated since January. Some hospital staff have even been asking him why he did not seek treatment from Kiambu county where he hails from. I said here that devolution is being used to promote tribalism and discrimination. Some Kenyans are being denied jobs because theyre from different counties. The letter and spirit of the new constitution is being undermined by such incidents.
