DEVOTION FOR THE DAY YOU ARE GODS SPECIAL POSSESSION. 1 PETER 2:9 •Chosen: One who is the object of choice or of divine favor: an elect person •Royal: Of or relating to a king or queen, the royal family/household/palace. [in some way related to a king or queen]. •Holy: Exalted or worthy of complete devotion as one perfect in goodness and righteousness. •Priesthood: the office, dignity, or character of a priest. In the Old Testament the priest acted as the intermediary between God and sinful human beings. With Christ’s victory on the cross, that pattern changed. Now we can come directly into Gods presence without fear Hebrews 4;16. And we are given the responsibility of bring others to him also 2 Corinthians 5:18-21 When we are united with Christ as members of his body, we join in his priestly work of reconciling God and people. All true Christians are a chosen generation; we make one family, a people distinct from the world: of another spirit, principle, and practice; which they could never be, if they were not chosen in Christ to be such, and sanctified by his Spirit. We are part of the royal family of the Kingdom of heaven. Like any other member of royalty, we dont just step into the role without any preparation; we must be trained. Proper and careful training is essential for rulers in the making. We need a tutor like the Holy Spirit because our minds and thinking are corrupt and it takes us a while to grasp and genuinely believe the truth about who we are in Christ. Our first state is a state of gross darkness, but we are called out of darkness into a state of joy, pleasure, and prosperity; that we should show forth the praises of the Lord by our profession of his truth, and our good conduct. We are purchased, literally, acquired. Gods peculiar treasure above others. After a lifetime of feeding on negativity and impossibility thinking, most of us have a certain amount of mental damage that the Holy Spirit must heal. We have been slaves for so long that we dont know how to handle freedom. We apologize for getting ahead. We dont believe we deserve or are entitled to the best. But since we are God’s special possession we should carry ourselves like royalty, expect the best from Him, and treat others with this revelation. TRUTHS TO REMEMBER 1.God chose us before time, to be holy and to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself Ephesians 1:4-5. 2.God chose the Israelites as a special people to him out of all the people in the earth Deuteronomy 7:6. 3.You are chosen among many! You are God’s special possession Matthew 22:14. 4.God prepared good works beforehand so that we would walk in them, we are his workmanship. Ephesians 2:10 5. We should clothe ourselves as Gods chosen one’s by putting on behavior marked with tenderness, pity, kindness, a low opinion of ourselves and patience Colossians 3:12-17 My prayer for us: May it sink deep in our minds that we are Gods special possessions, and may we represent Him accordingly. #Devotion/Prayer hour on Dawn Break with me Shiku Thiongo.
