DHAKA Mass Transit Company has appointed British architects John McAslan & Partners (JMP) to design stations for the first phase of the metro network in the Bangladeshi capital. Line 6 will run for 20.1km from Uttura in the north of the city to Motijheel in the south with 16 elevated stations. JMP is working alongside Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Mott MacDonald, and Nippon Koei on the design phase of the $US 3bn project. The line is being built in three phases, all of which are due to be completed by 2022, and daily ridership is expected to reach 505,000 by 2025.
